Since the spring of 2021, Studio Ricardo Brey, in collaboration with the CKV (Flemish Centre for Art Archives), has been actively engaged in a comprehensive project aimed at shaping, conserving, and making the archives of the Studio more accessible to the public.
This project focuses on organizing and preserving the extensive body of work and historical materials produced by the artist, ensuring that these valuable records are meticulously maintained, expanded and available for future generations.
The project also involves the integration of research and educational components through partnerships with institutions such as CKV_MHKA (Museum of Contemporary Art Antwerp) and Belgium Universities. As part of these efforts, the UGent internship program provides students with opportunities to contribute to the archival work, allowing them to gain hands-on experience in the fields of art conservation, research, and archival practices. This collaborative approach ensures that both the artistic legacy of Ricardo Brey and the educational mission of these institutions are advanced, offering scholars, students, and the public enhanced access to these important cultural resources.
